NPMC is based on the collaboration of the Laboratory of Pharmacognosy and the Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). Since 1994, the group is focused on the research of natural products and the investigation of natural resources as a springboard of drug discovery and design.
The Team
The laboratory employs highly qualified experts in natural products and medicinal chemistry research, including 5 academic staff members, 8 postdoctoral researchers, 15 PhD students, 3 scientific collaborators and 1 technician. About two thirds of the research group is involved in the isolation and structural elucidation of natural compounds and one third is working on synthetic medicinal chemistry and in silico studies.
